Glider Port

Last year after one of our fair days, we headed up to the Torrey Pines Glider Port. It was really cool to see them all in action. Unfortunately, this time, we were too late, and they had all finished for the day. But, we still had fun walking around, checking out the beautiful views!

Short-Sale Process

Some have asked "What's going on with your house?" So, I figured I should give the old Tibbetts Family Update on that too. Our realtor told us that our lender sent an appraiser out to the house last week "which is a good thing," she added. She said it confirms that they are trying to see if the offer that we have in on the house is a good one. She feels that we wont have a problem, because it's a perfectly acceptable offer for the house, and the times, and the neighborhood. She's hoping to have "some news" for us by the end of July. So, hopefully that means they will accept the offer, then we can do a short, 30-day escrow from there. We are just happy that the offer is still IN and staying strong, since it's such a lengthy process. We got a call from Chris's mom this week, that some guys were snooping around the house, and when she went out there to find out what was going on, they said they were sent by the bank to change all the locks! Yep, they were basically going to break in (by punching a lock out) and change every key lock on the house! THANK GOODNESS, Shirley called Chris right away, who proceeded to tell them that they could not break into our house, or change any locks, and they had to leave! They left. Our realtor said it happens every now and then-- and explained that they must have seen that the house was empty when they did the appraisal last week, and it is their means of "protecting their assets" from theft, vandalism, people going in and squatting, etc.. Makes sense when you think about it, but it sure felt like a major invasion of privacy, and it's not legal on top of it all! Our realtor assured us that if they were to succeed, they don't even give the keys to the bank, they change the locks and toss the keys, just to know the house is safe (most likely from disgruntled homeowners who are losing their homes). Our realtor would then just hire their own company to go out and change all the locks again, so that they have the keys to give to the new owners when the deal is complete! A crazy waste of time and money in the long run, but it does make sense (after you calm down and think of it-- and think of the stories you've heard of homeowners who have done horrible things like that!).

Justine's Pool Party

Justine usually has an end-of-the-year slumber party with her girlfriends... this year she chose to invite her besties over for a pool party! 5 kids, including the boys. They had a lot of fun together.

Cowles Mountain Addiction

So, I started hiking Cowles Mountain about 2 weeks ago. I hiked it 5 times that first week-- It got kind of addicting for me. Strange, but cool! 1500_feet up; about 30 minutes to get to the top (when I'm alone). The boys came out with us once, and the four of us finally made it to the top! (Tustin tried 2 times but got tuckered out.) Keegan must have run up and down the thing twice every time... he'll run ahead, and then double back to us, etc. The next time the boys went up with me, Tustin said, "Oh, are we there already?" And he made it up without any problems at all. So, it's our afternoon work out a few times a week now (although I must admit I like to plug in to my tunes and hike it alone every now and then)!

Keegan's New Interest (YAY!!)

Keegan was tempted by a "dare" from Chris.. or a proposition.. not sure exactly what to call it. We went to a book store a couple of weeks ago, and Keegan was picking out more chapter books "for Mommy to read" to them at night. Chris said.. "If you read an entire chapter book in 48 hours, I'll buy you a Nook!" Keegan cried, explained how that was impossible, and something he could NEVER do! So unfair, bla bla bla. Well, ya-all know Keegan, if he's anything, he's determined! He read an entire Magic Treehouse chapter book in 24 hours! Guess what... Mommy and Daddy went out Nook shopping that weekend. For whatever reason, they joy of reading clicked in his brain, and he's become a book worm! It's wonderful. He's downloaded three chapter books on his Nook so far, and he's read TWO of them. (And he's told us all about them, so the comprehension is there too!) He's on his third! Nonny got him a Barnes & Noble "e-card" so he could pick out and buy/download his own books-- and he's even mentioned that he's asking for B&N giftcards as future gifts! I SURE hope it sticks because I never thought the day would come. (I have actually started reading a Nook Book myself!)

Last Day of School!

And last day of school forever at their old school. It was bitter-sweet. Sad to say goodbye to the wonderful teachers, but happy to be sending the boys off to one of the best schools in San Diego in the fall this year! I took the whole day off so I could spend it with Tustin on his last day of kindergarten. We had a lot of fun, and the school threw a fun picnic lunch (and cake) for the kids.

Good-byes...

The boys had to say goodbye to their principal for the last time. And Keegan was very sad to say goodbye to the wonderful teacher he's had for two years now. We had a fun picnic on the last day-- I got to spend time and eat lunch with both boys during their respective lunch periods.

Inflatable World

Our last-day-of-school tradition (well, okay, the last two years for Keegan's last day of school.. but now Tustin has his first last day of school, so we continue the tradition!) Keegan and Justine met on the first day of kindergarten, 3 years ago! Justine and her mom came with us to Inflatable World again this year! The kids had a blast.

Our New Hammock

Thank you Nonny!!

Tustin's Kinder Performance

Both kinder classes got up on stage for us and sang a whole bunch of songs. It was really cute. They did hand signals, and sign language with some of them. Tustin was a tad bit more on the shy side, but he knew all the words, and seemed to be enoying himself!

Out of This World- Del Mar Fair

Nope, Not 'Gonna Do It-- still not going to call it the San Diego County Fair. Just because a name changes, doesn't mean what you grew up calling something has to change. It will always be "The Del Mar Fair" to me! (And probably my kids, since that's what we all call it!) The theme this year is Out of This World. We got the kids unlimited ride wrist bands (the ONLY way to do it), and they rode rides for about 5 of the 7 hours we were there. We really didn't do anything else, other than eat! They didn't want to see any animals, shows, exhibits, or anything. So, they rode and rode and rode. Maybe next time, we can do a few other fun things.
