Let's Go Fly a Kite....

We brought our kite with us out to the end of the embarcadero. We all took turns flying it (except for Tustin, more later). When we got there, there wasn't very much wind, so the boys just started running around, letting the breeze catch the kite, and it would blow up a bit while they were running. A kite flyer (flier?) next to us said "Give it about 40 minutes, and the wind always picks up after the lunch hour." Sure enough, we ended up with enough wind to get the kite ALL the way up and out on it's string. Well, not all the way to the 500-foot mark, but probably a good 350-400 feet up! It was cool! So, back to Tustin, there is this huge tree directly under where the wind takes the kites up... the poor guys was panic-stricken for about 20 minutes, screaming to bring the kite down, because he didn't want to "Loooose it for-eva and eva in the tree!" That, or, he didn't want an airplane to crash into it, or, you name it, he thought of it. Flock of birds, etc... So, for quite a while, he literally hid behind me, with his face buried in my legs, so he didn't have to watch. We finally got him distracted, and he started doing some tumbling with some girls near by, and we brought the kite back down to a safe distance for him!
