Tut Talk!
Okay, sometimes I just can't resist sharing these adorable little tid-bits that the kids say!
I was reading Tustin a story last night about Santa. A very short, cute book. It talked about Santa's reindeer getting ready for their flight; about the elves loading up Santa's sleigh; it's midnight and time to head out to deliver toys to the children of the world, etc.... Then there is a page about Santa returning home in the morning, after his work is done... and the next page says "And now it's time for Santa to sleep!" Tustin said, "You know what I think Mommy? Santa must be nocturnal!"

Dear Santa
Tustin decided to dictate his Santa letter to me this year... so here it is:
Dear Santa,
I love you. And I'm sorry for naughty stuff, and I love you. I won't be scared of sitting on your lap. I want a Power Ranger friend that moves. A new toy Bumblebee, that's my friend. Santa Claus, I want a new Optimus Prime toy for myself that moves. Santa, I want a new toy Optimus Prime for Keegan. A Bakugan on a card that opens up; a square Bakugan.
The End.

Dear Santa
Yes, it is that time again, the boys are starting to write their Christmas letters to Santa. But this could actually be one of my MOST exciting blogs ever... KEEGAN WROTE HIS SANTA LETTER ENTIRELY BY HIMSELF THIS YEAR!! He sounded out every word, and wrote it all himself. (At this stage, his teachers say not to correct spelling, just get him to write!) The photo is a picture of Santa holding Mommy's hand-- Santa is the one on the left, if you can't tell by the Santa hat!
Literal translation:
Der Santo
I wont a squar bokoogon! And a neklis. We wil be at nanu and popuz haos!
Actual translation:
Dear Santa,
I want a square Bokugan! And a necklace. We will be at Nana and Papa's house.
A Little Fun Around the House
Keegan has this great math program on-line, set up through his kindergarten class. (Kristi, if you want the site, and Keegan's log-in and password, let me know!) There are about 10 different "math" games he can play. All I have to do is get him to the web site, and he does EVERYTHING by himself: choosing the game, sounding out the letters on the right buttons to push (uh, ya, reading!!), and figuring out what the right answers are to these math games. He really loves this "homework." And here's a cute picture of the boys goofing around. For some reason, they love playing in the clothes hampers!
Sea Life Aquarium at Legoland, CA
Last weekend, we took the kids to the aquarium next to Legoland, in Carlsbad. We went with one of my friends from work, Lisa, and her family. She has an almost-5-year-old, with whom the boys have been playing for years. And they have a beautiful 5-month-old baby boy too. We had a really great time together. There was a slide at the entry way, that the boys had fun on for a bit. And there were these really cool tanks, where you could pop up inside of them, almost like you are in a bubble. Join us for our tour of the Sea Life Aquarium in the following photo exposition!! :-)
There was a tide tank, where the "waves" came in and out along the shore. It's the tank that Chris and the kids are sitting near. There was a HUGE lobster in that tank! There were tanks above you, tanks below, tanks you could look through a hole into, etc... The kids (especially Keegan) had the best time at the tide pool. They were able to touch sea stars, sea cucumbers, and other snails and limpet-like creatures. The fun part was that a majority of the decorations, both inside and outside the tanks, were made entirely of LEGOS!!
Aquarium
There were nicely painted walls, to make for pretty photo ops! There was "landscaping" in the form of trees and boulders (which, by the way, were not intended to be climbed, I'm sure). The kids were able to touch sea urchins in another little tide pool. And there were tanks of all shapes and sizes to check out throughout our aquarium tour. After the aquarium we went over to our friends' house for the kids to play a bit. They have this great new play house in the back yard, and this picture is the only one I could snap off... the boys were way too excited to pose for me!

Tut Talk!
Keegan has been having "growing pains" in the evening lately. So, we've all been talking together about growing pains, and how they are a sign that your body is growing, etc.... and they are a good thing, etc...
We went to a birthday party today for a friend of Tustin's. You know parties, cake and junk food. Later when we got home, before nap time... Tustin started rubbing his belly. I said, "What's wrong honey?" He said "OH, I think I'm having growing pains in my tummy!"

Having Fun While we Wait
SURPRISE!!!
Friends & Family Party
On Sunday of the Birthday Celebration Extravaganza.... it was mostly a party for Great Nana (aka Mickie) and her friends. We had quite the turnout. I've posted some of the family photos we took at this party. We got to spend more time with Colin, Lana, and baby Lainie. Steven and Katie joined us as well. And, we just couldn't get Karen away from the bar... even when she had no customers to serve!
Spoiler!
Aftermath....
So, after the ladies' tea party... the kids were allowed to take over! (Please notice Keegan's name tagS. He did them all by himself! I don't think they had ever been to a dessert part before-- their eyes were open wide, looking at all the good stuff! I had a wonderful weekend getting to spend some QT with my niece and nephew.
