Yay- the Day Finally Came

The Long-Awaited, Much-Anticipated... Derby (Minus One) Visit! SO sorry you weren't able to come for a visit Uncle Kevin (but... I'm sure you've heard by now, you most likely slept MUCH more comfortably than any of us over that 4-day period!) The boys, Nonny, and I picked the Derbys up at the airport, headed to Dennys for a meal and a cup-o-joe, stopped at Nonny & Pops so the kids could say Hi to Pop... then we headed out to the Heat Zone--oh, I mean, our house!

Beat the Heat

Even though I "tried" to be the hostess with the mostest, it just wasn't going to work out completely without AIR CONDITIONING! The weekend the Derbys Minus One were in town, it was THE hottest it has been in San Diego, throughout the entire summer! The entire year even. And it wasn't just hot, it was humid. I even had Chris drag things out of the garage to get the Official Guest Room set up; we borrowed mattresses from Shirley & Danny (thank you so much!); and all the kids had places to sleep, etc.... but everyone was so hot, and so miserable that no one really slept well at all. It was 95 upstairs every day when we got home from wherever we went. We'd jump in the pool, cool off, and by bedtime, we were lucky if it was down to 88 degrees up there! Sorry Kristi... :-(

My Handsome Niece & Nephew

Those kids are so darn cute! Heck, all 4 of them are so darn cute! They had so much fun playing together, every single day, while the Derbys Minus One were in town.

Family Dinner

We were almost able to get everyone together for a family dinner-- sorry you couldn't make it Pop. I think we have officially "entertained" at our new house about a half-dozen more times in the last 4 months that we had at our old house in the prior 5 years or more!

LEGOLAND!!

We had a big family outing to Legoland when the Derbys Minus One were down. Nana, Papa, Nonny, all 4 Tibbetts and the 3 Derbys. We had a blast! There were many rides for kids and adults, and all of the kids were brave enough to try just about everything.... at least once! (I have more pictures to post at a later date-- one is a Roller Coaster ride photo, that I'll have to scan.... HILARIOUS!!)

Smiles All Around

What is Tustin Doing?

Reminds me of that old Sesame Street song: Which one of these is not like the others? Which one doesn't belong? Hmmm, did Tustin get it wrong? or the other three?

Rides

Somewhere in between getting their drivers' licenses, and helicopter pilot licenses, we managed to sit down for dinn!

End of the Fun

Legoland had to come to an end-- with one last group photo... but, unfortunately, the whole Derby vacation had to come to an end as well. And what an end it was! Keegan got a new lego set at Legoland, with which he was imprssing Auntie Kristi (that and his deep dark tan)! Kristi had a night out with her best bud from SD, and ALL the kids slept in the bedroom with us... where the portable AC unit was! The kids were so good, and fell alseep rather quickly too. We had SO much fun with the Derbs here. I was just bummed that I got sick and missed an entire day of it all. We shall see them all at Christmas!

Cuties!
